Song of Hope
I remember with nostalgia
When as kids we danced,
isolated from intimidation
I remember with nostalgia
when as children we jumped around
free from harassments
I remember with nostalgia
when as neophytes we limped
in hope of a bright future
That hope is intact
the future still bright...
We will mount any obstacle
with our song of hope
and embrace this future.

Suffering In The Land
As I look at faces on our streets,
I see hunger,
I see suffering,
I see humiliation,
I see neglect.
They are mourning,
cursing those that imported doom,
They say there were leftovers,
In their kitchens.
Now times have changed.
As I look at faces on our streets,
I see oppression,
I see deceit,
I see victims of tyranny,
I see forsaken massess,
They are weeping,
lamenting lost hope,
Lost pride,
Lost dreams.
As I look at faces on our streets,
I see people frustrated,
I see people tricked,
I see people enslaved,
I see people whose future are mortgaged.
They cry each day,
They weep each day,
They say there's suffering in the land.

The Madman's Song
Today, the madman wails
He recalls goodies of old
He recalls hopes of yesteryears,
When life was comfortable
When thuggery was old fashioned
When robbery was a taboo.
He recalls
our pride
our unity
our togetherness
He remembers
our love
our joy
our hope
He wails about
our misplaced priorities
our squandered wealth
our twarther hopes...

They Are Gathering Again
They are gathering again,
They are gathering again,
The vultures are gathering to plunder,
They gather to slaughter.
The putrid aroma of our sweat,
The foul perfume of our mouth,
says a lot about life in ghetto
where they come for our votes.
They promise better life,
They gave bitter life,
They paint a future great,
They gave a dim light.
When shall our change come?
When shall we embrace
our world of rainbow
where we shall not bow?
Our tomorrow shall be better,
Our tomorrow shall be brighter,
We shall rejoice,
we shall rise...

Untitled
Hunger is an alien,
Cold a fairy tale
Lack, heard only
As a moon song.
Inside their iron-clad
mansions a plethora of abundance.

Whirlwind
I will become a whirlwind
bringing in my wagon
peace, harmony then
change landscapes
I will deposit inhumanity,
corruption in the cesspool
dump cheats in pits
of trained counsels -
experts in act of cleansing
I will cloth evil
in human renewal
I will dip loiters in deep oceans
to whirl in fragrance
as I towel polarity
I will become a whirlwind -
a wind that bruise
dictators, despots
splintering rocky hearts
denuding clandestine ploys.
I will with a flap
of my fury
blind eyes that
rummage sideways blinking
mutely at bugs
desicating our treasures
I will be a whirlwind
to fan away evil...
and rekindle forlorn hopes.

Without a Good Bye
You departed stealthily,
without a word,
without a smile,
without a simple good-bye.
Where is your care of yesterday,
Where is your moonsong of yesternight,
Where is your hug of love.
I long for that smile,
that danced on your succulent lips,
I long for that laughter,
that removes my pains.
You departed without
the courtesy of a good-bye.
I will stand at the gate,
to welcome your prodigal return.

Love song (1)
Nigeria,
my fatherland,
I love you
I cherish you,
though ravaged,
and descrated,
I still love you.
Nigeria,
my fatherland,
I love your beauty
I love your respledent coatings
though scavengers
make you cry daily
I rejoice in you.
Nigeria,
land of my birth
you'll outlast this season
as you did in time past.
I love you Nigeria,
even in this ragged
clothing you are adorned with.
