MY ANGEL
I hear your captivating voice
whispered by the wind
I see your face
brightened by the laughing moon,
your foot-steps, I hear splatter
splatter like droplets of rain
on an iron sheet...
I will hold you in an embrace
and suck your suculent lips.
Lean on me, let your fragrance
fill my whole essence
in obesiance to nature
Come stay by me
My beauty, my angel...

My Sister
You traversed ancient paths,
paths marked with chastity.
You got seduced, blinded
with wealths hawked about
by senile men.
They deflowered
your cherished virginity
in the morning of your puberty.
You threw away wise counsel,
and abandoned your future,
you renounced your meal ticket
for a morsel of wheat.
I weep for you, sister,
I lament for you, my sister,
I cry for the hope
rubbished over tiny desires...
Desires that trapped
your better tomorrow.
A poem about a wayward girl.

My Sweet Soul Mate
I've watched your foot steps,
sleeky meander that cools my heart
Over several seasons
I've savoured your beauty,
elegance clothed in sensibility
These long harmless years
I've sat alone
In the pit of thoughts
Probed the elation
That encompass us
Whenever we're warmly enthwined
I've held you tenderly
kissed you passionately,
passion that climb like
tendrils linning a tree
I've mumbled affectionate words
Into your lovely ears
Your sensitive ears that
absolve my poetic drumbeats
The aroma of your love
a whiff that makesme heady,
It dazes like strong wine
as my soul sway with tenderness.
My sweet soul mate...

Not As Before
Not as before when
We danced
The rhythm from
Melodious slit-drum
Not as before when
We traversed
The Sea shore,
Observed the waves
Whisper silent calls
To the unknown
Not as before when
We swam the expanse sea
Like figures driven by cupid's arrow
Now, our love has take flight -
washed ashore.
A vale of tears fill
My eyes each time
I recall the quintessence
that's you.

Only Yesterday
It started a moment ago,
now it has towered
above our little imagination
almost touching the mambila plateau
It started only yesterday
now it has blossomed
glistening like embers of sunshine,
a raging fire on a mountain
It started only but yesterday
now our love swells with passion
like the tossing waves
May no one dim this glowing love
may no one put asunder
this endless love
may it thrive against murky whispers

Palace Of Wisdom
Come to the palace of wisdom,
Drink from her fountain,
Swallow to your full,
And let her liquid
improve your reasoning.
Come on,
Do not let up
This fun.
Be wise,
Be cheerful,
Bubble with laughter
And let the water-fall
Of creativity cascade;
To quench your thirst.

Poetic Celebration
My salute to you
Hands that caress the soil
and make it arable -
my hearty salute
Greetings,
hands that toil
and sweat...
From sun up to sun down,
your hoes, knives attack
the earth for bountiful harvests,
my unreserved salute.
Greetings,
hands that tend
and care...
Silently, softly, you dig
the hard surface as
sweat kiss your rough face;
my hearty salute.
Accept my salute
in praise of your courage,
your persistence, patience,
water our thirsty palate...
Here is my unmitigated salute...
Greetings to your hands:
bringer of fat tubers
that grace our capacious barns,
your mystic fingers;
reaper of cassava
that assuage our hunger,
your untiring efforts provider
of cocoyams that fill
our hungry bellies
May these fingers that
toil and bake under
searing sun receive
my salute.
Greetings,
hands that
delight in dirts...

Rhythm Of Affection
Parting rings a note of agony
on my heart each moment
I've to say good-bye
like a tree on a lonely path;
I feel deserted, abandoned
When thoughts of you coax
my mind, I feel elated
like a drop of honey on the tongue
If pains and scars are wiped out
what difference would grace
our pallid miasma -
a gladdening paradise
with love, harmony glowing...
I feel raw love for you
true , I share innermost
thoughts of affection for you
each time I recoil in monologue
of songs
O give me your authentic love
the cascading rhythm of joy
Give me your unmitigated affinity,
an intimacy moistured
like the early morning dew.
O my dark gazzle
bare your teeth in laughter
on my harmless face
to let me bathe in smile
of happiness
Your smile is tonic
to my heart
it emits hope
Your voice, timbre whisper
from the laughing waves
I take you for
what you are, honey
not what I hear
muted from the grapevine...

Silent Wind
As I eavesdrop the silent wind
rushing through my window,
Thoughts of you fill my heart.
As I awake in the dead of night,
Thoughts of you flood my heart,
Enwrapped with untold joy.
I hear your giggle like
that first date
when I made known my thoughts
To take you home forever.
It's like yesterday;
Several moons,
Showed their shinning faces.
Many valleys,
Showed their feet of clay
Yet, we remain entwined
In the deepest of emotions.

Sing Me A Song
Sing me a song that will
Brush out strained hearts,
Hearts that wail in anguish.
Sing me a song that
Will freshen imaginations,
Imaginations that
Traverse far and wide.
Sing me a song -
A cooing ditty that
Unbind fetters -
Fetters that lacerate
Decimated souls.
Sing me a song that
is loud and clear;
A song that pricks
Their innards and protests
Their unjust manners
Let fettered souls sing,
Let mannacled souls sing,
Let mangled bodies wail,
Let the poet sing,
With passion for
Sweet melodies of tomorrow
