Chrismas

I can smell Chrismas, deep sweet aroma,
My neighbour chicken in hand and a wide,
Busy smile.

I can perceive chrismas!,with young innocent ones,
Looking radiant in their new hair styles, new looks,
And happy free smiles.

I can look at the joy of chrismas, she baking flour,
Under a deem grey moon, other voices singing and,
Laughters escaping with freedom tunes.

I see chrismas!, My neighbours pots, screaming,
Silently under the scorching woods, while the oil,
Mellow down for some fries...

It`s going to be chrismas!, anticipation visible on,
Many merry faces, thoughts now in line with the,
Dress of joy as many wishes pass through the minds...

VOICES FROM NAIJA

So many voices aloud, crying for garri,
Some for tuwo, even the cheap amala,
Has suddenly grown wings and fly so high.

Voices of so many orphans roaming,
Our streets hungry in search of bread,
While their custodians grow fat everyday.

Open your ears carefully and listen, many
Widows are sobbing silently in pains,
Their rights taken away by mortals.

Voices from NAIJA -so many voices of,
Bodies without work, those with work,
Striving daily as slaves.

Voices of so many fathers, our mothers,
Little sisters, friends and brothers and
Many of our wives, including the grey hairs.

Just yesterday

Yesterday -I had a dream, that hunger was caught,
And I saw many orphans stopped crying...

Just Yesterday- I had this dream, that the wars were,
Over and behold - I saw many mothers smiling...

Yesterday I had a dream, that greed was dead,
And behold- I saw many happy faces...

It was just yesterday-deep in my dreams, the world,
At peace and behold- all creatures rejoicing away...

Just Yesterday - it was a dream, that lies were caged,
And truths -let loose to dance free...

Corner

None among us knows what lies hidden,
Around the corner as we strives daily on, God's free land.

That corner on our ways by the dreams,
We carry and the many hopes we nurse,
Silently away.

Who knows what's on the corner as the,
Day rise up from sleep and the sun set,
Out boldly again?

What lies behind the corner? - none could,
Say -though the eyes are wide and the brains,
Fully awake.

None among us - could tell what's on the ,
Corner as we journey freely away on nature's,
Wheels - with hopes.

Not Afraid

Hard times ,stormy days, trials,pains,
And sorrows - not afraid ,time would steal,
Them silently away.

Lost,threat , hunger,worries and bites.
I am not really afraid - just part of those,
Things that come and go.

Let the day come and the many challenges,
Along - I am not afraid as long as the air,
Is still free and the sky up there.

Mistakes, failures and distresses - still not,
Afraid - I am alive and still watching their,
tricks with open mind.

I tell you - I am not afraid of the many things,
That goes on and on around God's free land,
As long as smiles are still free.

Bread and butter

Some want some bread, others asked for,
Butter - bread and butter they insisted.

Look more closely - many are hungry,
Praying only for water to soften their taste.

Some have bread, others have butter,
While many dont even have a piece of corn.

Bread and Butter - toasted daily on selected
Plates , aroma whispering pass many nose.

Take a look with open mind - many clouded
Tears are masked away on helpless faces...

One People

We are one people – don’t worry,
The colors might be different – but,
From One God we all came.

The same people, we are, though we,
Speak different languages – but we,
Could still understand.

We are the same people, with just,
One head, two eyes, two legs, a mouth,
And the same invisible soul.

We are all people, created from a drop,
Asleep in mother’s womb as many stars,
Shines up boldly from the sky.

Just one people – on the same earth we,
Daily strives and on one sun and a moon,
We all behold, one road leading us home…

Strives

Proudly I strive away, searching,
For my shares of the many bounties
of the Lord.

Why grumble too much, when many
Don’t even have a piece of bread nor
A corn to eat.

Boldly I happily strive each day
Believing that the land is big and
There is plenty for all.

I hate to complain, when plenty
My eyes could behold, and few
Could really comprehend.

Happily I strive with a free mind
My eyes open, my senses alert, but
Everything I know still belongs to the lord.

Water is life

Give me water, let me quench
My thirsty throat, with the liquid
Of life.

Water is good, a free flow from the
Hidden fountain, where Mortal hands,
Can’t reach to create its taste.

Water is life my brother, what other
Liquid can soften my feelings and wet
My curious mind?

Pass me water; let me wash my feet,
Off dirt, stains and those timid pains
That troubled with dry taste.

Water is soft my sister, don’t be deceived
The others are sweet, but none as comforting
With free satisfaction.

Water is life my people – a friend to me
A friend to you, to him, to her and to
All living things in life.
