RUGA
An early morning jog with Kolade took me there.
Off we went before dawn to suss the mysterious Ruga.
Jogging, we kept on discussing women, to our minds very dear.
In no time, our journey paid off, emerged our mind`s joint bother.
A shanty town, halfed by a gully, stared us hands down.
Trapped in the throes of electric darkness, Ruga is a town Blessed with gifts that the world may never know because it stays Forlorn by country and people, except for its inmates.
Decorated in squalor, drooling with dirty stray dogs, A cesspool of sex, a home of the crescent, Hausa-Fulanis, A slum for the unlettered class fighting out fists of fury....
A foul stench of lack hung in the air, but the town looked happy A people happy to live, happy to strive, happy to jive At home in this limbo, edging out each day, sailing their cove From Luxury's bask in Abuja's posh locations. Ruga's pride lies In its potential - its people - not to die despite life's troubles.
Kolade and I left there better than we came For we saw that Ruga and women are very much the same They are always there, come rain, come shine!

Red Rose
hark! red rose!
like the red,red sea you lure me,
gentle breeze caressing my daily slumber
at sleep`s shore, staggering beauty swirling
and stunning my world like angry waves.
accept my humble adulation and let me
spread devotion to thee,
for roses are horses
on whom even beggars
get a jolly ride!

Powerless
you stripped me of power,
knocked me down senseless,
robbed me of my voice,
shattered my very core,
hampered my best choices,
gave me misery, pain and regrets,
just to drive home the message,
that i am nothing without you.
to give me power, you made me powerless,
tomake me heard you made me voiceless,
to restore my hope you made me hopeless,
to strengthen me you made me weak,
now the message is loud and clear,
I am nothing without you.
I can still see the demons that were
my daily companions, all invited to
the feast of my being all invited by my very own self,
it was a symphony of failure, a cacophony of defeat,
an unending darkness, a fiery furnace.
thank you, Jesus, for making me powerless,
that i may know you alone as my power, my strength!

BEST MOMENTS
I rest in your gentle embrace,
in you i find absolute peace,
treasured moments of moving stillness,
strengthening my base, affirming my firmness,
hallowed time quietening all noise,
this special hour in your presence is
your price and my dear daily prize!

Colours
It stands you out, marks you out,
the so-called stigma is only an insigna
a sure sign that some day glory'll ring out
from the rubies of your shame's drama!

Palaver
The fact that it's complicated
makes it colourful, beautiful, resourceful,
though we all leave with our scars and sorrows,
it's all for the best life's always complex!

Her Majesty
Red-blooded regina,
Surreal sovereign of ecstacy,
Configured from eternity,
Disfigured from time,
Wellspring of boundless love,
Castle of deadly desires,
Bearer of birth,
Harbinger of death,
Not a cunt but a Queen!
